Obituary for Bernard N. "Bernie" Vond

Bernard ‘Bernie” Nelson Vond, 84, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2015 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Sharon Gordon, Chaplain of Grace Hospice of Kalamazoo officiating. Interment will follow at Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Bernard was born January 17, 1931 in Marshall to Daniel B. and Dorothy (Trine) Vond. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force. Bernie worked at McGraw-Edison in Albion as a laborer for many years and for Acorn Manufacturing in Quincy assembling windows and patio doors.
Bernie was a member of the Coldwater Moose Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, collecting model cars, airplanes, trains and train sets. He enjoyed going to car shows and visiting with people but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Frances whom he married on January 20, 1956 in Marshall; his children, Daniel B. (Ann) Vond of Bronson, Deborah (Joe) Farrell of Bronson, Dora (Brad) Carroll of Hillsdale, Bernadine Vond of Coldwater, Julie (George) O’Neill of Coldwater and Michelle Blowers of Coldwater; his siblings, Daniel L. Vond of Coldwater, Dale J. Gordon of Coldwater, and Norma J. (Henry) Findley of Coldwater. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Vond and Dorothy Gordon, his daughter Dawn M. Renshaw, his grandson Joey Farrell and sister in laws Ina Vond and Lois Gordon.
