Obituary for Ivan G. Nutt

Ivan G. Nutt
Ivan G. Nutt, 86 of Coldwater passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Community Health Center of Branch County, with Coldwater Home and Hospice.

A Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Interment will follow at East-Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 1, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 PM.

Ivan was born July 21, 1929 to Charles and Olive (Park) Nutt in Ovid Township. Ivan was the 11th of 12 children. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1947. On July 31, 1948 he married the love of his life Beverly Stout in Coldwater. Ivan was a hardworking man. He started working in factories in both Coldwater and Ypsilanti, and then painted water towers for a short time. Ivan purchased a tract of land and became a dirt farmer. He owned and operated Ivan’s Lakeside Campground on Rose Lake for 20 years. Ivan also was a “pontoon pusher” on both Coldwater and Rose Lakes.

Ivan was a man of many interests. He belonged to the UCT and Masons. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. The family had a cabin in Manistee and spent much time up north. Ivan liked hunting small game, but especially deer hunting, cutting wood, and going camping. He and Beverly loved to go dancing. Mostly he relished spending time with his family.

Ivan had a guardian angel, as he was very accident prone and had several close calls where major injuries or death could have occurred, but always seemed to escape with smaller injuries than the situation should have resulted in. He will be remembered as an outgoing man that was very helpful to others. He would always stop whatever he was doing to pull someone out of a ditch or lend a hand any way he could. Ivan was very honest and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Nutt is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly Nutt of Coldwater; his children Sandy (Stan Graves) Nutt of Battle Creek, Kip (Nancy) Nutt of Coldwater, Tad Nutt of Plant City, FL, and Tammy Nutt of Coldwater; his grandchildren Kalan, Megan, Lindsay, Andrew, Tyler, and Joshua; his great grandchildren Kash, Avett, Dakota, and Austin; his sister-in-laws Marilyn Egnatoski and Linda (Dave) Hahn; his good friends Sam (Pauletta) Teachout; many nieces and nephews and his dog “Bindy Sue”. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Lamora Loose, Irene May, Gladys Fansler, Nola Nutt, and Velma Nutt; his brothers Paul, Wayne, Clifford, Dale, Earl, and Marion Nutt; his brother-in-law Jim Egnatoski.
