Obituary for Stevie J. Ratkowski

Stevie Jo Ratkowski, 52 of Bronson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Sturgis Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.
Stevie was born April 28, 1963 to Florian and Alice (Klavinski) Ratkowski in Sturgis. After graduation from Bronson High School, he started working with Bronson Precision Products. Stevie was currently employed at Morgan Olson. On May 16, 1987 he married the love of his life Jean Sikorski.
Stevie was very active in the Bronson community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a group leader with 4H, and served on the Polish Festival Committee. Stevie was honored to be the 2015 Polish Festival King. He was a member of the “Polka Hops” band. Stevie also coached girl’s summer league softball for many years. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, water sports, and spending time on the pontoon. He was an outdoorsman who loved all animals. Stevie not only played in the Polka Hops, he enjoyed listening to polka music. He will be remembered as a loving family man with a big heart. Stevie liked to make people laugh and always put others needs before his own. He will be missed by many.
Mr. Ratkowski is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jean Ratkowski of Bronson; his children Mindy (Corey) Schwatrz, Brittany Ratkowski, and Madison Ratkowski all of Bronson; his mother Alice Ratkowski of Bronson; his brother Gary (Lorinda) Ratkowski of Bronson; nieces and nephews Brandon, Kylei, and Alexa Ratkowski, Rachel Hoard, Desarae and Stasha Sikorski, Jenifer VanMeter, Taylor Sikorski, Tony and Miranda Meccia, Kayla (Brock) Sikorski, Emily Craft, and Morgan Jones; his close friends Randy Albright, Kevin Losinski, and Todd Cranson. He was preceded in death by his father and close friend Leo Odisher.
