Leslie J. Penrod
Leslie Joseph Penrod, 93 of Coldwater passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home while surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will take place 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Coldwater with Pastor David Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors being presented by Coldwater American Legion Post #52. Visitation is Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater and also prior to the service Thursday at the church beginning at 10:00 AM.

Leslie was born August 30, 1922 to Joseph and Ruthie (Danner) Penrod in Lewisburg, KY. After graduation from high school, he proudly joined the U.S. Army where he served during WW II. Upon return from the service he began a long career in manufacturing. He earned his Journeyman’s license as a tool & die maker. Leslie also was skilled in motor mechanics and electrical work. On January 1, 1947 he married the love of his life, Wanda Clay in Dayton, OH. Shortly after moving to Coldwater, they purchased the Willow’s Campground which they have owned for the past 55 years.

Leslie was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and a former member of the Coldwater American Legion. Leslie had two passionate hobbies: fishing and woodworking. He took pride in both his work and hobbies and it showed in the items that he made. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Penrod is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wanda Penrod of Coldwater; his children Howard (Susan) Penrod of Vermontville, Karen (Gary) McClughen of Bradinton, FL, and Shelia (Gordon) Mann of Yorktown, VA; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and niece & nephew; and all his campground friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Wilma Stamps.

Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Make A Wish Foundation or the 1st Baptist Church. www.dutcherfh.com
