Obituary for Sylvia Jean Wages

Sylvia J. Wages, 79, of Coldwater, passed away on September 30, 2016 at Maple Lawn.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Dave Brown officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
Sylvia was born February 12, 1937 in Marshall, MI to Louis & Beatrice (Prater) Duckett. She married Jack Wages on November 5, 1954 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2004.
Mrs. Wages was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker and had also worked at Lincoln Elementary School, Gittleman’s clothing store and Hair Force One. Sylvia was a skilled seamstress and very creative with arts and crafts. She was an awesome cook, who loved to bake, and proudly claimed the title of “Cherry Pie Queen” of Calhoun Co in 1953. Sylvia had a great affection for animals and was very devoted to her grandchildren.
Sylvia is survived by her children Jack (Angie) Wages of Union City, Brian (Katie) Wages of Burlington, Andrea Roerig of Montpelier, OH, her siblings Louis “Bud” Duckett of Tekonsha, Sandra (Ora) Swick of Tekonsha, grandchildren Zachary Roerig, Emily Roerig, Marshall Wages, Nolan Wages, Casey Russell, Colin Burklund, Kealey Cottrell, Bekah Cottrell, great grandchildren Vivian, Olivia, Fiona, Keion, Kai & Nola and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons Eric & Bradley Wages, son-in-law Daniel Roerig, sister-in-law Karen Duckett and niece Laurie Leach.
