Obituary for Alois L. Liebe

Alois “Al” Liebe, 90, of Coldwater, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 in Bloomfield Hills.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Very Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman V.F. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Charles. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Al was born May 28, 1926 in Rosholt, Wisconsin to Alois & Lena (Wendorf) Liebe. He served in the US Army, 4th Division and was a veteran of WWII during the Battle of the Bulge.
Alois married Mary E. Hickey on June 18, 1947 in Custer, Wisconsin. They spent many years in Illinois where he worked briefly for Caterpillar and Joliet Arsenal. Al worked for over 20 years at Lockport Trucking, retiring in 1988. Shortly after, Al and Mary came to Coldwater.
Al was a member of St. Charles Church and a life member of the VFW in Joliet, IL. He enjoyed socializing at the Senior Center and meeting friends for breakfast. Al was an outdoorsman who loved boating, fishing and hunting.
Al is survived by his wife Mary, his son Larry Liebe of Commerce Twp., his grandchildren Ashley (John) Phillips of Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, CO, Kristina (Matthew) Funni of Commerce Twp., great grandchildren Hazel Funni and Madelyn Phillips. He was preceded in death by his sisters Johanna Freeman, Connie Sentek and Helen Woelky.
