Obituary for Dennis R. Howard

Dennis Roy Howard, 74, of Coldwater passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. A visitation will take place from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the memorial service at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Dennis was born March 7, 1942 to Arnold Howard and Marcella L. (Roush) Welch in Jackson. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 1, 1964 and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1968 having attained the rank of Sargent. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Dennis had worked for IBM and also at Lighthart Business Equipment in Lansing for 10 years as a product technician retiring in 1994.
He was a member of American Legion Post # 52 in Coldwater and was a former Judge Advocate for the American Legion, he was a member of the D.A.V. in Battle Creek. Dennis was very proud of his country, he had a good sense of humor, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, restoring old cars including his Triumph, NASCAR, reading, hunting, camping at Huyck Lake and fishing.
Dennis is survived by his special friend Linda Henning of Coldwater; his three sons; Jeffrey (Dr. Ann Spillan) Ford of Caro, Michigan, Patrick Uberroth of Lakeland, Florida and Michael (Linda) Uberroth of Bartow, Florida; his 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; his siblings, Mary Barncard of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Joanne Bailey of Hawesville, Kentucky, Joseph Howard of Jerome, Michigan and Pattie Branberry of Pittsford, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.
Memorials may be directed to the Branch County Animal Shelter.
