Cathern L.  Burnside
Cathern “Katie” L. Burnside, 95, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 16, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at Card Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater..
Cathern was born June 25, 1921 to Henry and Lula (Card) Kinter in Elkhart, Indiana. Katie graduated from Coldwater High School. She married Harold J. Burnside on September 2, 1944 in Coldwater and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2014.
Cathern worked as a laborer with Federal Mogul in Coldwater for many years. She volunteered for Branch County 4-H and for over 30 years with the Hospital Auxillary. She was a member of Farm Bureau and at Bethel Gilead Community Church. Katie was on the Bethel Birthday Club as well as their Ladies Aid Group. She belonged to the Country Couples in Branch County.
Harold and Cathern’s gift allowed for the beginning of the Burnside Senior Center in Coldwater. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cathern is survived by her daughter, Marylyn (Gille) Arseneault of Coldwater, her grandchildren; Jessica (David “DJ”) Herlan of Coldwater and Nathan (Dr. Rebecca) Andridge of Columbus, Ohio, her great grandchildren; Deegan Herlan and Grant Andridge.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Burnside Senior Center, Branch County 4-H or Bethel Gilead Community Church.
