Obituary for Russell J. Morrison

Russell J. Morrison, 91, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
The funeral service will be Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Girard United Methodist Church with Pastor Cydney Idsingna officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Russell was born November 24, 1925 in Girard Twp., MI to Floyd & M. Rolene (Russell) Morrison. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1943 and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Russell married Phyllis “Jean” Lueck on December 28, 1958 in Quincy, MI.
In 1955, Russell purchased property on Bell Road with Bob Fenno and planted pine trees. The pine trees are now enjoyed by the campers at Potawatomie Campground. Mr. Morrison operated heavy equipment for the former MI Aggregate Corp and was proud to have developed the Russmorr Estates in Coldwater Township where he named Scott and Bryan Drive after his sons. Russell purchased the former J & B Discount Drug Store which he managed until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling and boating.
Russell is survived by his wife Jean, his children Scott (Diane) Morrison of Coldwater, Bryan Morrison of Ft. Wayne, IN, his grandchildren Tiffani, Marshall, Maggie and Sam Morrison. He was preceded in death by his brothers Floyd Jr., Larry and Harry Morrison.
