Obituary for Robert A. Massey

Robert A. Massey, 82 of Coldwater passed away peacefully Thursday, February 09, 2017 while at home surrounded by family.

In following Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. A private interment will happen at Oak Grove Cemetery in the spring. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Robert was born May 23, 1934 to John and Elsie (DeYoung) Massey in Amherstburg, Ontario. He graduated high school and began a long working career mainly involving farming. While working the family farm, Robert also sold John Deere at McCann’s Farm Equipment and later was the Sales Manager at Spoor & Parlin Inc. He also spent many years at Federal Mogul and at Edison School as a janitor.

Robert was a man constantly in motion. If he was not working the farm or one of his many jobs, he was “road farming”, checking out what all the local farmers were doing. He liked to ride around on his 4 wheel “Gator” keeping track of the property. Robert’s true joy in life was spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Massey is survived by his children Randy Massey of Coldwater, Gary (Tammy) Massey of Coldwater, and Susan (Brian McCarville) Massey of Fort Wayne; his grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Burleson, John (Michelle) Massey, Bryan (Amy) Massey, Stacie (Derek) Parker, and Tricia (Trevor) Berry; 11 great grandchildren; and his special friend Beverly Eberts of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to CHC Home Health and Hospice. www.dutcherfh.com
