Obituary for Hattie R. Stevens

Hattie R. Stevens, 90, of Bronson, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Drew’s Place in Coldwater, surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Paul Redmond officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4-8:00 PM, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Hattie was born November 19, 1926 in Bronson, MI to Hewitt & Veronica (Koscielny) Smoker. She married Robert D. Stevens June 12, 1948 in Bronson, he preceded her in death October 6, 2015.
Mrs. Stevens was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She worked at LA Darling during WWII and Bronson Reel from 1946-1950. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Bronson Jaycee ettes. She enjoyed playing cards, golfing and bowling. Hattie was an excellent cook, especially when it came to baking, and she treasured the time spent with her family. She was a Thanksgiving superstar!
Hattie is survived by her children Richard (Brigitte) Stevens of Champaign, IL, Ronald (Mary) Stevens of Gallatin, TN, Kathy (Russell) Burrows of Castle Rock, CO, Karen Stevens of Bronson, Robert P. (Cindy) Stevens of Centennial, CO, James (Tracy) Stevens of Grand Rapids, her sister Delphine Kibiloski of Bronson, brother Eugene “Dude” Smoker of Colon, sisters-in-law Roberta Smoker and Bunnee Smoker both of Bronson, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, 5 brothers and sisters.
