Rex Allen Barrington, 72 of Bronson passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 in Bronson.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at St. Mary’s of Assumption Catholic Church with Pastor Terry Siler of the First Congregational Church officiating. Interment with military honors by Bronson American Legion Post #259 will follow at Matteson Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 at St. Mary’s.

Rex was born September 6, 1944 to Clark and Phyllis (Smith) Barrington in Coldwater. Shortly after high school graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon leaving the Army, Rex began a long career driving trucks. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union and retired from driving in October 2007 to spend more time with his family. On July 24, 1965, Rex married the love of his life, Linda Everett.

Rex was a man of faith and a member of the First Congregational Church. He was also a member of the Colon American Legion, the Moose Lodge in Coldwater, and the Baldwin Am. Vets. Rex was a big supporter of the Make a Wish Foundation, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Out of the Darkness, and Relay for Life. He enjoyed spending time on his John Deere equipment, giving the grandkids rides. Rex also liked being outdoors pulling weeds and taking care of the animals. His true joy in life was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a strong, selfless, loving, man with a great sense of humor. Rex will be missed by many.

Rex is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Barrington of Bronson; his children Michelle (David) Williams of Coldwater; Matthew “Dillon” (Tonya) Barrington of Bronson; his grandchildren Brooke (Mykal) Smoker, Collin & Braydon Cook, Regan, Heidi, & Aaron Barrington; his sister-in-law’s Gladys & Margie Barrington; several nieces & nephews; and his dog “Buddy”.
