Obituary for Dick Ervin Knirk

Dick Ervin Knirk
Dick Ervin Knirk, 74, of Quincy, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Terry Siler officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy, at a later time.
Dick was born November 3, 1942 to Blaque and Arlouine (Rosendahl) Knirk in Bad Axe. After graduating from Quincy High School, he enrolled at Michigan State University and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy in 1967. Dick married Linda Angerer on June 16, 1966 in Onsted, Michigan.
Dick was a lifelong farmer of beef cattle and crops in Branch and Hillsdale Counties. Parts of the land have been continually farmed by a member of the Knirk family for more than 100 years. He was a member of Branch County Farm Bureau, having held several leadership positions, including president, and served on the Branch County Agri-Business Council of Branch County. A strong supporter of the community, Dick was a Quincy School Board Member for more than 20 years, a Quincy Rotary Club member with perfect attendance despite his many travels, a longtime Quincy Zoning Administrator, former Tibbit’s Board member, Branch County FHA Board member, and a active member of the Branch County Historical Society and Wing House Museum. Dick enjoyed traveling around the world with his family. He and Linda visited all 50 states and many international locations. Outside of his love for farming, Dick enjoyed learning about history and watching Michigan State University athletics. In recent years,. Dick loved spending time with his 2 grandsons.
Dick is survived by his wife of 51 years Linda; his children, Leon Dale (Jennifer) Knirk of Quincy, grandsons Lincoln and Logan of Quincy; Mark Ervin (Jessica) Knirk of Las Vegas, Nevada and Maria Sue Knirk of New York/ Washington DC. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack W, Knirk.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wing House Museum or to the Quincy Rotary Club.
