Obituary for Kathleen M. "Kathy" Diesel

Kathleen "Kathy" Mercedes Diesel, 74 of Coldwater passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 5-7:00 PM, with the rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Kathleen was born August 11, 1943 in Peoria, IL. Kathy’s parents were Thomas and Helen Dean (Hayes) McGraw. She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bloomington. On May 18, 1963, she married the love of her life, Clarke Diesel. She worked at CHC in Coldwater as a registration clerk, retiring to spend more time with her family.

Kathy was woman with a variety of interests. In her younger years she and Clarke were involved with the Jaycee’s. Kathy enjoyed camping with her family. She was an excellent seamstress and knitter, using her skill to make clothing. Kathy was a baker and cake decorator. She had a fondness for Disney, especially Pooh Bear. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clarke Diesel of Coldwater; her children Elizabeth (William) McKinley of Quincy, Jenny (Andy Homan) Bell of Schoolcraft, and Alexander (Angela) Diesel of Grand Rapids; her brother Thomas (Joan) McGraw of New Bern, SC; her grandchildren Brian Wood, Aaron (Jessica) Wood, Nathan Wood, Katlyn Wood, Rilla Berry, Jacob Bell, Samuel Bell, Anthony Diesel, and Hannah Diesel; several nieces & nephews; and her dog “Domino”. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Joshua Wood.
