Doris E Martin, 93 of Bronson went to her eternal home in heaven Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.

Doris was born October 20, 1923 to Bert and Glema (Fenner) Hillyer in Bronson. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1941, where she met her future husband. On April 4, 1942 she married the love of her life, Olan Martin in Traverse City. Doris was a hardworking woman. She worked at Dancer’s Department Store, before going to Kirsch Blinds, and then to Dr. Sutton’s office. Doris retired from Ryan Elementary School after 21 years as a secretary in 1988.

Doris was a woman of strong faith who committed her life to Christ at age 14. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Bronson. Doris enjoyed many interests during her life including serving others, reading, yard work, and bowling along with hosting friends and family in her home. She also enjoyed riding her bike.She will be remembered as a caring, faithful, steadfast, and kind woman. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her son Kirk (Vicki) Martin of Springfield, OH; her son-in-law Lloyd (TerryHirsch) Lane of Indianapolis; 5 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 72 years Olan Martin; her daughter Susan D. Lane; her brothers Morris, Gordon, and Robert Hillyer. A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful employees and her friends at Hearth and Home for the past three years.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Bronson with Pastors John Fields and Tim Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Bronson Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
