Obituary for Deborah S. Jersey

Deborah Sue Jersey, 69, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Coldwater with Rev. Debbie Semon-Scott officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Deborah was born October 5, 1948, the adopted daughter of Daniel Samohovetz and Dorothy Malone. She graduated high school and later started a long career with the State of Michigan. Deborah began working in data processing before finally retiring as a Supervisor at Jackson Prison.
Deborah was a woman of faith and a long-time member at First Presbyterian Church. She was very active with the church health clinic. Deborah was also highly involved at Tibbits Opera House where she acted in plays, volunteered in many capacities, and enjoyed attending events. She had a creative mind, putting her ideas in crafts and decorations. Deborah had an extensive collection of hats from a span of years. She was also known as the “Cat Lady”, taking in cats from all over town that were in need of a temporary home. Deborah will be remembered as being a very social woman with a kind & giving heart who got along with everyone.
Mrs. Jersey is survived by her children Jaime (Kim) Cornett of Lansing, and Erin “Missy” (Randy Naill) Cornett of Centerville, IA; her grandchildren Jada, Jaycee, Parios, Cassie, and Kellee; her great grandchildren Tywon Jr., Presleigh, and Prescott; her special nephew Kurt Samohovetz; her special niece Amy Samohovetz, her step sister Maryann Edgerly and in addition, all her beloved cats. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Danny Samohovetz..
