Obituary for Warren L. Widener

Warren L. Widener, 92, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at Masonville Place.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Coldwater United Methodist Church with Pastor Julie Elmore officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion #52, Drill Team. The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5-8:00 PM at the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home. A private interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery before services.
Warren was born November 3, 1925 in Girard Twp., MI to John & Ida May (Freeland) Widener and served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Dolores J. Lanka August 20, 1949 in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2008.
Mr. Widener was self- employed as a contractor/homebuilder. He built many homes in Coldwater and the surrounding areas. Warren was a longtime member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club and actively volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Warren loved to travel, having been to many places throughout the world. He especially enjoyed spending time at his home on Rose Lake and treasured most, his time with his family.
Warren is survived by his children Kenneth (Donna) Widener of Charleston, SC, Scott (Vicki) Widener of Grand Rapids, Kathryn (Tom) Rapach of Buchanan, Mark Widener of Houston, TX, Annette (Jeff) Adams of Chicago, IL, Gail (Jim McDaniels) Widener of Coldwater, his brothers and sisters in-law Leland Rathbun, Lorraine Murphy, Margie (Don) Waite, grandchildren Jeff Widener, Meggen Frendt, Tyler & Thomas Schlubatis, Michael Widener, Christy Rowe, Alex Flood, Hannah Watkins, Chris & Greg Adams, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Ralph and sister Mary.
