Raymond E. "Ray"  Young
Raymond Eugene Young, 96 passed away peacefully Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home in Masonville Place.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am Friday, January 12, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Jennifer Fair of the United Church of Christ in Tekonsha officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am.

Raymond was born September 1, 1921 to Raymond H. and Syrena (Olive) Young in Coldwater. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1939 and then continued his education taking Short Courses at Michigan State University. Ray was a life-long farmer, working with both his dad and uncle. On April 16, 1950 he married the love of his life, Bessie M. Price in Coldwater. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2017.

Ray was a man of faith and a long-time member of the United Church of Christ in Tekonsha, where he was a Deacon. He was very involved in the farming community. Ray served as local President of Future Farmers of America for 3 years and county Secretary for 1 year. He was also a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau. Ray and Bessie were very active together as members of Country Couples, traveling by bus and train during retirement. He liked music, playing the piano, guitar, harmonica, and banjo.

Raymond is survived by his sons David Young of Tekonsha and Joe (Terri) Young of Vicksburg; 5 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 67 years, Bessie. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Masonville Place.
